At PhonicsJoy, we take the privacy of our users — especially children — very seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide when you create an account (name, email address) and information generated through your use of PhonicsJoy (stories created, sounds practiced, game activity). We do not collect any personally identifiable information from children directly — accounts are created and managed by parents or teachers.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to provide and improve our services, personalise your learning experience, send you account-related emails (such as receipts or important updates), and understand how PhonicsJoy is used so we can make it better. We do not sell your personal information to any third party.
3. Children's Privacy (COPPA)
PhonicsJoy is designed for use by children under the supervision of a parent or teacher. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. All accounts are registered by adults. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without parental consent, please contact us at hello@phonicsjoy.com and we will promptly delete it.
4. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase (PostgreSQL), hosted on servers with industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest. We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.
5. Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences (such as dark mode). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Third-party services we use (Clerk for authentication, Vercel for hosting) may set their own essential cookies in accordance with their privacy policies.
6. Third-Party Services
PhonicsJoy integrates with the following trusted services: Clerk (authentication), Supabase (database), OpenAI (AI story and image generation), Razorpay (payment processing), and Vercel Analytics (anonymous traffic analytics). Each of these providers has their own privacy policy and data handling practices.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. You may also request a copy of the data we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at hello@phonicsjoy.com. Users in the EU/EEA have additional rights under GDPR.
